Job summary:

Help protect millions of consumers by securing the UK's electricity supply
Ofgem exists to ensure a safe and sustainable energy supply to the households and businesses of Great Britain.

As the industry regulator we promote the highest standards of customer care and work with industry partners to ensure that our energy system and supporting infrastructure is safe, resilient and sustainable.

In this role, you'll lead on policy work streams within our Energy Security of Supply team.

As a key advisor and expert on electricity systems, trading and markets, you'll be playing a key role in securing our affordable electricity supply and maintaining a resilient electricity system.

You'll also be joining us at a crucial time as energy markets face unprecedented turmoil and the UK's net zero ambitions become more important than ever.

Not only will your work be high-profile, it'll help protect consumers across the country.

As you advise on our policy work streams, you'll also supervise quantitative and qualitative projects. These analyse complex concepts and help deliver robust analysis of policy options.

Drafting briefings, consultations and impact assessments forms a core part of your work, as does briefing senior managers on our work streams' risks and milestones.

Aside from policy work, you'll represent us at external forums, dealing with a wide range of stakeholders from government departments to the National Grid and energy companies.

Job description:

To join us, you'll need highly developed policy analysis skills.

You'll be able to accurately assess the costs and benefits of complex solutions and make effective recommendations based on your expertise in electricity systems, trading and markets.

With experience as an internal expert, you'll use strong communication skills to impart advice and challenge colleagues.

Ideally, you'll also have good stakeholder management skills and experience working on consultancy, government, policy, regulatory or energy sector projects that deliver benefits for consumers, communities, or society.

We are serious about offering you professional development, training and support. You can also expect an excellent benefits package including a civil service pension.

Not only that, you'll have a real work-life balance and a great working environment with a shared sense of purpose.
