    An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated registered pharmacy technician. The Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician role is a senior role within the Pharmacy Department providing leadership and direction of the operational aspects of the pharmacy service (excluding production) in collaboration with the Chief Pharmacy Technician and the senior pharmacy team across Queen's and King George Hospitals, and other satellite sites.

    The post holder will deputise for the Chief Pharmacy Technician and support the development and monitoring of the operational services within relevant national and local standards. The postholder will along with the Chief Pharmacy Technician be responsible for ensuring provision of high quality, safe, well-governed, productive and cost-effective services which support the Trust in delivering its strategic objectives. They will practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of effective decision-making.

    Main duties of the job

    The Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician role is a senior role within the Pharmacy Department providing leadership and direction of the operational aspects of the pharmacy service (excluding production) in collaboration with the Chief Pharmacy Technician and the senior pharmacy team across Queen's and King George Hospitals, and other satellite sites.

    The post holder will work deputising for the Chief Pharmacy Technician, with a particular focus on day-to-day management of pharmacy technicians and support staff working in the service e.g. dispensaries, clinical service, stores, distribution, the model of delivery and management may change during changes to be discussed as the service changes.

    The post holder will support the development and monitoring of the operational services within relevant national and local standards and as agreed with the Chief Pharmacy Technician.

    The postholder will be responsible for ensuring provision of high quality, safe, well-governed, productive and cost-effective services which support the Trust in delivering its strategic objectives.

    Working for our organisation

    We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

    Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London – more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.
