    The role

    This Head of Projects role sits within Davies Technology Solutions [DTS]. Davies Technology Solutions is the commercial technical arm of the business, made up of several reputable proprietary technology companies offering bespoke solutions to the insurance, banking and other regulated markets. business.

    The Head of Projects leads a team of delivery managers, as well as the Project Management Office (PMO) in ensuring the successful execution of all our projects, both internal product development and customer technical project delivery. This role plays a pivotal part in driving project efficiency, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and exceeding client expectations.

    Key responsibilities

    • Lead and manage a team of delivery managers, providing coaching and mentorship to develop their skills and expertise.
    • Oversee the PMO, ensuring efficient project planning, resource management, project execution, and timely reporting.
    • Implement and maintain a robust project management methodology (Agile, Waterfall) and product delivery methodology to optimise project delivery.
    • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate project risks to minimise delays and ensure project success.
    • Maintain strong client relationships, fostering clear communication and exceeding client expectations.
    • Manage project budgets effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Develop and implement strategies for continuous process improvement to streamline project delivery.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, development) to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
    • Track and report on key project metrics to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • As a Leader, it is expected that you work for a minimum of 2 days per week from our office in Norwich.

    Key skills and experience required

    • Extensive and demonstrable experience in technical / IT / software-related project or portfolio management
    • Strong people leadership, and day-to-day team management skills, with ability to identify and optimise strengths, analyse skills-gap and manage effectively.
    • Excellent understanding and experience of implementing and embedding product and project management methodologies.
    • Previous experience of leading, mentoring or managing a team of Delivery Managers, advantageous.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Confident prioritisation skills: ability to navigate challenging and conflicting tasks, as well as balancing both internal and external projects (and delivery teams).
