    A quick look at the roleTo efficiently receive, process and dispatch incoming wastes through our hazardous waste transfer facility.

    Paramount to the role is that the waste is assessed and handled in an approved manner ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental compliance are met whilst demonstrating continuous improvement in productivity, plant availability and the quality of materials sent off site.

    Monitor and control all processes within the facility in terms of people and equipment to ensure operational productivities and plant availabilityEnsure security of waste entering the facility and disposal in line with any stated customer requirement, at minimised costEnsure inputs and outputs meet defined standards e.g.

    PPC, pre-acceptance, acceptance and onward transfer caveats, whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operationsControl material flows through the site to ensure delays and backlogs are minimisedCarry out regular stock control and inventory of materials, both waste and consumables held on siteMaintain a high level of housekeeping in all areas and ensure any housekeeping activities are carried out in an effective and timely mannerImplement and ensure compliance with all company policy, process and proceduresRequirementsHere's what we require{{:}}Previous experience working as a chemist on a hazardous waste management business or chemical/manufacturing industryMinimum of a HNC Chemistry qualificationGCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English LanguageIT literate - confident use of MS OfficeKnowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical processing environmentStrong analytical skills with the ability to measure and monitor dataGood organisational skills with the ability to simplify complex issuesExcellent written and verbal communication skills at all levelsFull, clean UK valid driving licenceWillingness to travel within the UK for business meetings and project work at other locationsFlexible and adaptableBenefitsAnd Here's why you'll love it at Biffa.
