Job Summary:
As an Activities Coordinator at Stanshawes Care Home, you will be responsible for planning, organising, and implementing a diverse range of activities that promote socialisation, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being for our residents.
Your role will be crucial in enhancing their overall quality of life and fostering a sense of community within our care home.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with residents, their families, and care home staff to identify individual interests, hobbies, and preferences.
- Develop a varied activity program that caters to the needs and interests of our residents, ensuring a balanced mix of physical, cognitive, social, and creative activities.
- Coordinate and facilitate group activities, outings, and special events, ensuring their smooth implementation and residents' participation.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback, and use this information to continually improve and adapt the activity program.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging residents to actively participate and engage in activities.
- Provide oneonone support to residents who may require assistance or have specific needs during activities.
- Collaborate with care home staff to integrate activities into the overall care plans and promote a holistic approach to resident wellbeing.
- Stay updated with current trends, research, and best practices in the field of senior care activities, and incorporate relevant findings into the activity program.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in organizing and facilitating activities for seniors, preferably in a care home or assisted living setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
- Understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by seniors, including those with cognitive impairments or physical limitations.
- Creativity and resourcefulness in developing engaging and appropriate activities for residents of varying abilities and interests.
- Flexibility in working hours, including weekends, to ensure coverage for every other weekend.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of seniors.
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines relevant to activities for seniors.
