The role


The Reinsurance Strategy Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) Reinsurance and Reinsurance Executive Committee (Re ExCo) to deliver the strategic objectives for the business and be responsible for developing andimplementing best practice methodologies and tools to drive continuous business improvement initiatives across the business.

Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and leading cross-functional projects that promote organisational effectiveness, efficiency and profitability.

The role requires an individual who will work responsibly, maintain confidentialityand utilise the utmost discretion in all internal and external matters and interactions.


Key accountabilities

Strategic Management

  • Responsible for designing, executing and communicating key initiatives in alignment to the business strategy
  • Responsible for shaping and delivering key messages that originate from the Reinsurance Executive to internal and external stakeholders
  • Working with Reinsurance Finance provide analysis on financial performance, particularly around key renewal cycles
  • Remain up to date with market conditions, peer and competitor behaviour and how these interact with and relate to our strategy
  • Responsible for working with the CUO and by extension the CFO, Deputy COO and Re ExCo to maximise the business potential of the business and group, including creation of business cases and Business Management
  • Oversees and drives performance and effectiveness of the Office of the CUO by ensuring the highest quality of delivery of all activities
  • Draft responses to matters that arise from Re ExCo or relevant Boards seeking input from relevant parties as appropriate
  • Prepare papers for Group ExCo or relevant Boards as directed by the CUO with input from other Re ExCo members as appropriate
  • Prepare presentations and papers for external parties as requested, including for Regulatory and Rating Agency matters
  • Take a lead role in managing business initiatives on behalf of the business and provide regular updates to the CUO and where appropriate Re ExCo members, on progress I significant milestones Project Management
  • Lead or support on key projects or assignments to fit the needs of the business
  • Work with reinsurance stakeholders in project coordination gaining required inputs in a timely fashion
  • Deliver information requests on specific projects as requested by Re Exco members.

Communications

  • Under the direction of the CUO prepare appropriate internal and external communications, including; Prepare for employee staff meetings and information updates on company performance as required e.g. Townhalls
  • Communications on key business changes and appointments
  • Liaise with Group Communications to ensure internal and external Communications are consistent with business and brand guidelines
  • Working with the CUO to create presentations and speeches for internal and external meetings, including; customer and broker meetings, industry events and offsite meetings Marketing and Distribution
  • Working with the Group Chief Business Development Officer to support the creation of marketing materials and associated content
  • Raise and maintain a high standard of marketing and distribution efforts emanating from the CUO's office, and more broadly the Reinsurance segment
  • Working with the CUO'S Executive Assistant, oversee the development of media and marketing plans prepared on behalf of the CUO, including strategic broker communications. Reinsurance Executive Committee
  • Leading role in managing all affairs related to Re ExCo, with direction from the CUO and CFO
  • Working with the CUO Executive Assistant to support the preparation for the Re ExCo meetings on behalf of the CUO, including; developing the meeting agenda and capturing appropriate actions
  • Work with Re ExCo to ensure actions are followed up on and delivered in an appropriate timeframe

Skills & experience

Educational experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent formal education qualification
  • Project management experience across multiple jurisdictions
  • Appropriate relevant experience from a (re)insurance background
