    Description

    The Paediatric Unit at Dumfries Infirmary seeks to appointan enthusiastic clinical fellow post which is available from the 7th August 2024 for a period of 6 months with possibility for an extension. This post is available at the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and is aimed at those doctors who have recently completed their foundation programme or core training.

    This hospital based post involves care for children with a wide range of acute and long-term conditions in the children's ward, Neonatal unit, Out-patient and Ambulatory Care facility and provide advice to the Accident and Emergency Department as well as General Paediatrics. This will be a full time (48 hours) post with participation in full oncall activities as per the junior rota. The post holder will be paid at ST level based on their previous experience. A banding supplement relevant to the OOH component of their rotas will be paid.

    Your appointment will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff and Doctors and Dentists in Public Health Medicine and the Community Health Service (Scotland).

    NHS Dumfries and Galloway serve a population of approximately 148,500 within a large geographical area of about 2,400 square miles.

    Dumfries Royal Infirmary moved to a new site on the town bypass in December 2017. We are now a state of the art facility with 160 medical beds including a 42 bed Combined Assessment Unit serving a catchment population of 150,000. Glasgow and Edinburgh are an approximate 90 and 120 minute drive respectively from Dumfries. The hospital provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient health services. The Galloway Community Hospital serves Stranraer and the west of the region; it is an intermediate unit providing maternity services, as well as medical & surgical beds. There are bedded units within eight cottage hospitals which provide care services such as minor injuries units. Midpark Hospital provides inpatient facilities for mental health patients.
