    Clinical Psychologist - Ely

    This opportunity is based in Fen House, Ely which provides rehabilitation to up to 25 individuals with an acquired brain injury. It is a unique community where the people we support can address their cognitive, behavioural, physical, and emotional difficulties. You will work alongside occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists who work collaboratively with support workers to enable individuals to achieve their goals, such as regaining the ability to walk, talk or re-learn daily skills.

    As a Clinical Psychologist you will work as part of a multi disciplinary team to provide clinical psychology and neuropsychology input to service users with acquired brain injury. You will liaise with internal and external professionals, family members and service users.

    Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist psychological/neuropsychological assessment of adults with acquired brain injury referred to BIRT and related services, utilising and interpreting information from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self report scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service users care.
  • To coordinate Service Users care as appropriate and agreed with your supervisor, in the role of keyworker
  • To formulate and implement plans of specialist psychological and/ or neuropsychological intervention to support the neurorehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury as part of the multi/inter disciplinary team, based on current evidence-based best practice.
  • To elicit personal goals from service users and translate this to specific, measurable, achievable, relevant timed SMART goals with the team.
  • To undertake psychological therapeutic and rehabilitation interventions, drawing on a range of psychological models and employing a range of modalities (individual, family and group) adapted and tailored to the needs of the individual and the context and ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of the intervention.

    Toundertake a range of psychological therapeutic and rehabilitationinterventions, drawing on a range of psychological models and employing a rangeof modalities (individual, family, group) adapted and tailored to the needs ofthe individual and the context.

    Tomonitor the effectiveness of interventions and report back to the team.

    Toexercise autonomous professional judgement and responsibility for thepsychological management of clients on own case load.

    Tobe responsible for providing a specialist psychological perspective in themulti-disciplinary assessment of service users and their families.

    Tocontribute highly specialist psychological advice to the multi-disciplinary formulationof appropriate therapeutic approaches or intervention plans, and to be involvedin, or oversee specialist psychological aspects of their implementation incollaborations with other staff.

    Toelicit personal goals from service users and translate this to specific,measurable, achievable, relevant timed SMART goals with the team.

    Toundertake psychologically based risk assessment and risk management forrelevant clients and provide advice on the psychological aspects of risk to themulti-disciplinary team.

    Toconsult with and provide specialist psychological guidance to carers andfamilies of service users.

    Toparticipate in regular on call support for the Unit on a rota basis.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree in Psychology, accepted by BPS for Graduate Basis Registration (GBR) or equivalent.
  • Doctorate in clinical psychology (or equivalent) accredited by BPS.
  • Desirable

  • Relevant experience of training other professions on psychology assessment and treatment methods.
  • Relevant experience of, or ability to contribute to the planning and development of operational policies and service delivery.
  • Proven experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences, using relevant resources.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Ability to integrate complex multi-factorial clinical information into a formulation, utilising a variety of psychological perspectives.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to the service user group.
  • Ability to work within Professional Guidelines.
  • Relevant experience in producing clinical reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with complex emotive subjects with a range of audiences, including those with communication difficulties.
  • Ability to prioritise the workload to meet specified deadlines.
