£24,000 - £26,000 per annum

Our client is looking for a Press and Communications Officer to join their established, dynamic, and fast-paced marketing team


This is an exciting opportunity where you will play an important role in protecting our client's reputation by ensuring that press opportunities are pursued and followed up.


Key Responsibilities of a Press and Communications Officer

  • Handle enquiries from the press, the public and key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for managing the corporate response.
  • Management of the Press Office Inbox and fielding external communications with partners, corporates, the wider press, and publications.
  • Manage crisis PR events or incidents.
  • Conduct initial investigations into any potential issues, working with internal stakeholders to pull together a detailed internal account. Using this information, you will pull together the first media response statement.
  • Work with the wider marketing team support activities such as new product launches and press events.
  • Arrange for spokespeople to speak to the media.
  • Work with a variety of journalists and foster good relations with the media.
  • Support in the coordination and management of events.
  • Help to devise and produce proactive PR campaigns.
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare regular evaluation reports.
  • Support in measuring the success of the PR activity and produce media evaluation reports for senior stakeholders.

Key Skills of a Press and Communications Officer

  • 12 years' experience working in PR/Media.
  • Experience working in a busy press office or similar.
  • Excellent copywriting skills.
  • Experience using monitoring software such as Vuelio.
  • Sound knowledge of the media's different audiences and sensitivity to how they are addressed.
  • An interest in the news and current affairs.
  • Excellent telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly to any situation.
  • A relevant graduate or undergraduate degree in PR, marketing, journalism, or English is desirable.
  • Experience in event coordination is desirable.
