  • This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor to play a crucial role in the development and delivery of a new approach to ensure that the fens landscape can adapt to the challenges that increased flood risk, and climate change, will bring.
The climate emergency is the biggest challenge of our time. Temperatures are increasing and sea levels are rising faster than ever before.

Now more than ever, we need to plan and act if we are going to adapt to these changes and create resilient communities across the Fens.

This is an exciting and wide-ranging role.

Working in the Fens 2100+ team, and with external contractors, you will be the technical lead and a senior user.

You will be responsible for overseeing, monitoring and reporting progress of work packages and lead on the data and information aspects of the project.

You will have a key role in building and maintaining internal and external relationships and networks with key partners, such as IDB's, to gain operational support for FENS2100+.

Ensuring we collaboratively deliver Fens 2100+.
Importantly you will ensure Fens 2100+ reflects EA business needs, confirming that tactical and operational needs are satisfied. As well as maintaining an overview of policy and political issues which may impact on project delivery.
A leadership development role, you will step in for the programme executive and technical director as and when required.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team- The Fens 2100+ team is a new, progressive and pioneering group of people. Working together, to determine future investments in flood risk management, in response to climate change risks. We work with a broad range of partners and stakeholders on a large landscape scale.

We take a one team approach focused on supporting, empowering and developing ourselves and each other to deliver our set objectives and make ground-breaking advances in adaptation planning.

  • Experience/skills required
  • We're looking for someone with a good track record of working within complex programmes and projects and an excellent understanding of the business.
You'll be able to work at pace where project outcomes are evolving rapidly and there are tight timescales. You will be able to work under pressure and have a flexible and adaptable attitude to completing tasks.
You'll be able to use your own initiative, anticipate issues and act, where needed, to drive and coordinate progress.

You will be able to engage, with and coordinate, a range of colleagues to ensure progress and risks are being managed.

You'll be an accomplished communicator and experience of working with a diverse range of partners, including senior stakeholders and have experience of having difficult conversations whilst being comfortable in the face of challenge.

Ideally, you'll also have prior experience or knowledge of asset management or Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management.
