About the role


We have a permanent position in our Bristol studio for a Senior Urban Designer to join our talented team of Landscape Architects.

We have ongoing international projects, including the German Embassy in Addis Ababa and G21 Airport Road in Abu Dhabi and a number of high-profile projects in the UK such as:

A landscape masterplan for the Whitchurch and Forest Farm campus for Cardiff Council, landscape design for the University of Worcester's Severnside Campus Berrows House Building, exciting high density residential developments in Bristol and Woking along with developing therapeutic landscape designs for a range of significant health care projects.


About you


You will have excellent creative design skills, good relevant experience and a high level of IT proficiency and proven ability of working in CAD.

Passionate about Landscape Architecture, you will be keen to develop your personal and professional skills in a supportive environment.

Key aspects of the role
- demonstrate a collaborative team-working style and enjoy working to tight deadlines an ability to provide leadership and mentoring to our team, and to projects at different scales and complexities
- be a designer with strong visual and written communication skills
- working in the Landscape team, you will be confident in taking responsibility for leading the landscape input on projects along with delegating and overseeing the work of the less experienced team members

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years' post chartership experience is expected, to have the skills and knowledge required to undertake this role successfully
- working closely with architects, landscape architects, town planners and other consultants who work with BDP to deliver our commissions for both public and private sector clients

  • Sponge Park, our climate resilient park created in West Gorton, Manchester won the excellence in water management award in last year's Landscape Institute Awards. The park is designed with nature-based solutions to 'drink' and absorb rainwater, thereby reducing flood risk.
  • We worked alongside artist Wolfgang Buttress to relocate the HIVE from Milan to Kew Gardens. In 2016 The Hive won a Landscape Institute Award for its immersive impact. A beacon of contemporary art, it continues to stand tall as a striking symbol of the challenges facing bees today
  • The Italian Gardens in Weston-SuperMare won the best pedestrian environment category in the Street Design awards in 2019, they were shortlisted for the Pineapples Awards of that year
