    PURPOSE OF ROLE

    The European Managing Director is accountable for and leading the delivery of strategic objectives and 5-year plan for Weir Minerals Europe.

    This position is crucial for driving the Weir Minerals business forward by meeting financial and growth targets set by the Weir Minerals Division and Weir Group Executive.

    The Managing Director will spearhead strategic initiatives aimed at advancing the growth strategy. This involves meticulous planning, resource allocation, and expansion into new markets, all geared towards fortifying the Weir Minerals presence within Europe.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Including but not limited to:

  • Monitor and control the Company's performance and finances in accordance with the approved budgets, ensuring that the Company attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Devise and implement growth strategies which are consistent with and support Weir Minerals Division and Weir Group strategic business plans.
  • Effectively manage, provide professional guidance and support direct reports in the senior management team to ensure their respective 5-year support function plans are in place.
  • Prepare an annual business plan, budget and submit to Weir Minerals EMEA and Weir Minerals Division for approval.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to Weir Minerals Europe, Weir Minerals EMEA, Weir Minerals Division and Weir Group through the senior management reporting structure, keeping them aware of developments within industry/market and to ensure that the appropriate plans are in place to meet the Company's objectives.
  • Develop and drive appropriate sales and marketing plans for the Company's mineral processing solutions, products and services.
  • Ensure that a safe working environment exists for all Weir employees and Visitors aligned to Zero Harm.
  • Cooperate with and ensure effective relationships with other companies within the Weir Minerals Division and Weir Group.
  • Direct and control the work and resources of the Company and ensure the recruitment and retention of the required numbers of well-motivated, trained and developed employees to ensure it meets its objectives.
  • Ensure that the Company operates within and complies with all Weir Group directives and policies, especially the Weir Group Code of Conduct.
  • Conduct business activities in an honest and ethical manner which is consistent with the Weir Way, policies and practices and local laws.
  • Establish and maintain effective formal and informal relationships with major customers, suppliers, regulatory authorities, industry associations, key decision makers and other stakeholders generally, to exchange information and views and to ensure that the Company is providing the appropriate range of and quality of product and services.
  • Where appropriate, represent the Company in negotiations with customers, suppliers, regulatory authorities and other key contacts to ensure the best possible products and services are provided to customers.
  • Ensure compliance with local environmental laws, Weir Minerals Division and Weir Group policies and practices.
  • Role model the Weir values and behaviors, create an engaged environment where staff can excel.

  • Perform such other duties and exercise such other responsibilities as may be reasonably expected of an executive at this level to ensure the proper operation of the Company
  • JOB KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (eg. Engineering, Business Administration, Finance). An MBA would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of ten years senior/executive management experience with overall responsibility for (or strong contribution to) the delivery of bottom line results (P&L).
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance the management of cash and income.
  • A proven record of success in a similar role.
  • Mining industry knowledge and experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Significant senior level experience of people and resources.
  • An understanding of financial management and broader management principles and techniques.
  • A very high level of commercial awareness.
