Job description:


Do you want to work in an environment where you can develop your skills and experience whilst working to support the UK's Armed Forces? If so, an opportunity has arisen for a Materiel Accounts & Business Administrator to join us at DE&S (Defence Equipment & Support).


We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual at entry level, developing skills in a role primarily engaged in materiel accounting and administration activities, working under supervision in our OD (Operational Delivery) function, at Defence Munitions Beith.

You will be responsible for helping to achieve business objectives and continue improving performance.


In this role you would be using Inventory Systems to undertake Stocktake planning and reconciliation tasks, including stock and financial adjustments.

You will also assist in travel booking, procurement, time recording, risk monitoring and checking of financial transactions.

About the role


This is a varied post within a demanding environment, allowing you the opportunity to collaborate with customers and engage in materiel accounting and business administration activities.


Responsibilities of the post include:

  • Liaising with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Stocktake planning and materiel accounting transactions.
  • Investigating discrepancies and following financial write off procedures.
  • Booking travel for site personnel.
  • Monitoring business risk reviews.
  • Low Value procurement and financial checks.
  • Maintaining financial data.
  • Maintaining Training Database.
  • Delivering a highquality service, collaborating with others to deliver positive outcomes.
  • Having a good eye for detail and dealing with data management.
  • Creating/maintaining spreadsheets.

Person specification:


  • You will demonstrate IT skills and be computer literate, with proficient Excel spreadsheet skills.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to analyse financial and numerical data, with a good logical approach to problem solving.
  • You will be a good verbal and written communicator.
  • You will be able to use your own initiative while working as part of a team.
  • Experience within an officebased environment
