Coombefield Veterinary Hospital is a long-standing practice in the community

Coombefield Veterinary Hospital (CVH) is a long-standing practice in the community, and has grown from the 'James Herriot' ideal of mixed practice, to an RCVS accredited, purpose-built hospital practice in the same town - with still growing aspirations and ambitions.

We are really proud of our practice's foundations, and it is still really important to us that we are there for the community and their pets
What is Three Counties Veterinary Emergencies?

Three Counties Veterinary Emergencies (3CVE) is a branch of CVH, working out of the main hospital site at night, set up in May 2022.

We currently have a team of 4 night vets and 3 night nurses.
There are 6 member practices that contribute to the night service
Where are Three Counties Veterinary Emergencies?

The hospital is based in Axminster, Devon – an area of outstanding natural beauty with wonderful countryside, historic towns and the Jurassic coast on our doorstep (England's only natural World Heritage Site).

All of this AND we have great transport links with the M5 nearby and a mainline train service to London.

Come to work for 3CVE and feel like you're on holiday in Devon
Why are Three Counties Veterinary Emergencies different to other out of hours providers?
~3CVE was set up to future proof the way we work at CVH and to improve the wellbeing of local veterinary teams.
~ 3CVE has grown and developed in a way that we are really proud of, and developed a service that everyone will want to be a part of.

Night vets are part of our team
~This also means it is possible to be personalise the role to even deliver a combination of both day and night work if like the best of both worlds.
~ There are hospital rounds at the start and end of your shift with the day team, and all will be familiar faces.
~ We look after one another, and wellbeing initiatives are encouraged and seen through by our 'Wellbeing Champions' in the team.
~ We have an open culture, encouraging diversity and our team relationships are based on respect.

What can Three Counties Veterinary Emergencies give me as a night veterinary surgeon, that other OOH providers cannot?
CPD and further training with certificates actively encouraged.
Accommodation between shifts is available enabling some downtime locally between night shifts. Or better still, take the leap and move - with a £5K relocation allowance and fantastic work-life balance when you get here you won't regret it

We are not an OOH provider run by locums – we have a steady and consistent team with a wide range and depth of experience.

We have fantastic facilities, and can work-up cases to a high standard.
Who would suit a night role at 3CVE?

Someone not quite ready to take the leap into ECC and want the best of both a day and night role.

Someone who is looking to take on the challenge of moving from day to night work.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we are keen to hear from candidates with disabilities and long-term health conditions and would be happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments needed during the recruitment process.
