    Job Summary

    NHS Blood and Transplant is a Special Health Authority, dedicated to saving and improving lives through a wide range of services to the NHS. It has a wide and diverse remit including, blood donation, organ donation and stem cells. The Communications team works across all these areas meaning you will work across a wide remit.

    Experience in a communications role, gained in a large, complex organisation, will stand you in excellent stead. You'll deliver advice on both internal and external communications and engagement issues, advising on priorities, messages, and channels, ensuring there is ongoing dialogue about our future priorities.

    You will support the Strategy, Planning and Evaluation Manager as NHSBT's lead planning and evaluation communications specialist, acting as a trusted professional advisor. You will have a passion for working strategically across communications functions to develop creative content and engaging narratives for both external audiences and a highly mobile and dispersed workforce.

    Note: This role offers hybrid working, but your base will be determined during the interview process and this will be one of our NHS Blood & Transplant's main centres.

    Main duties of the job

    In this role you will be responsible for managing the cross NHSBT communications grid to ensure communications across NHSBT are well planned and properly evaluated. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with teams across NHSBT to ensure we are capturing all internal and external communications opportunities such as policy milestones and R&D activity.
  • To manage the Communications team's regular evaluation process and dashboard to share with SLT and ET.
  • To ensure communications and milestones across NHSBT are coordinated and evaluated.
  • To support the Strategy, Planning and Evaluation Manager as NHSBT's lead planning and evaluation communications specialist, acting as a trusted professional advisor.
  • To develop cross NHSBT position papers on key issues.
  • Support the delivery of cross cutting issues across the communications team and DXC as necessary.
  • Provide professional advice for all aspects of planning and evaluation.
  • You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice

    About You

    Experience and Knowledge

  • Demonstrable experience of producing high quality communications plans
  • Standard keyboard skills with ability to deliver extremely high levels of accuracy
  • Experience of developing and delivering internal communications programmes using a wide range of channels and media.
  • Demonstrable specialist knowledge of marketing
  • Knowledge and experience of techniques and systems for evaluating the effectiveness of internal communications.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint)
  • Qualifications and Training

  • Post graduate level qualification or equivalent experience on communication/marketing area
  • Degree level qualification in marketing/communications or equivalent experience to a degree level
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
