- Understand client requirements and aspirations to identify and agree scopes of work.
- Deliver high quality work to agreed timescales and budgets.
- Ideally, have good knowledge of at least two of the following rolling stock areas, and the desire and ability to develop your knowledge within other areas:Bogies and suspension.Wheelsets.Bearings and transmissions.Braking systems and performance.Door systems.Couplers and gangways.Corrosion repairs and fabrication.Engines.Train maintenance and fleet management.
- The introduction of new rolling stock through design scrutiny in support of the Certification Body.
- Cost reduction through component condition assessment and maintenance optimization.
- Investigation of in-service issues / problem solving.
- Devising practical repair solutions.
- Improving system reliability through the review of fault data and recommendation for modifications.
- Undertake Project Manager roles for projects managed by the Mechanical Systems team.
- Identify technical, commercial and safety risks associated with projects and ensure these are managed through each project phase.
