Role
The purpose of the role is to provide day to day support with the preparation of buildings/facilities in line with staff and student requirements to meet the Service Level Agreement.
This role is full time 37 hours Monday to Friday and working hours will be between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
There are two permanent positions available.Duties and responsibilities
- To liaise with specialist teaching areas and technicians to support all room resets/layout changes.
- To report to the Helpdesk, any observed defects or maintenance items.
- To assist with the receipt, unloading, storage or delivery of all University post and resources delivered from the Resource Centre.
- To complete all jobs raised by the Helpdesk in a prompt and efficient manner, and within priority timescales specified in the Service Level Agreement.
- To lock & unlock rooms as required.
- To support all office moves including the movement of furniture and equipment.
- To set out classrooms as required by timetables and layout specifications.
- To assist in the cleaning of buildings and grounds, especially in the vicinity of entrances, as directed by the Facilities Supervisor.
- To undertake minor maintenance as directed by the Facilities Supervisor for example lamp changes, toilet unblocking.
- To set up conference, lecture and event facilities as required.
- To assist with the periodical deep cleaning programme as required.
- To collect and segregate, waste and arrange for its disposal or recycling.
- To assist in the clearance of snow, ice and other hazards from paths, entrances and other essential areas as necessary.
- To undertake daily vehicle checks, promptly reporting any vehicle defects to ensure its legality.
- Working to Standard operating procedures.
- The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Facilities Supervisor.
Skills and experience
Able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to a standard appropriate to post.
Have a full UK driving licence.
Able to work accurately and safely.
Experience in housekeeping tasks.
Experience in completion of work in accordance with approved codes of practice and legislative compliance.
Have sound knowledge of products and materials currently in use.
Experience of working in occupied buildings understanding not to cause disruption.
Experience in meeting deadlines.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt to organisational change.
Ability to adapt to technological advances in the workplace.
Able to work with mínimal supervision and on own initiative, either in a team or alone.
Demonstrate an appropriate level of physical fitness to enable the effective performance of duties.
Able to work under pressure and manage conflicting demands.
To be adaptable, conscientious and to be a good team member.
Location
The post holder will be required to work across several of our contracted buildings in the central Northampton area and duties will not necessarily be limited to a single place of work.
