    Liverpool City Council are looking to recruit a Lead Specialist Practitioner for SLCN within the Special Education Needs Inclusion Support Service (SENISS) to cover maternity leave. The role will be a full time position for 12 months beginning from September 2024.

    You are advised that this post is determined in accordance with the statutory provisions in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document and the salary is on the Lead Practitioner Pay Scale at Min 1 £47,417 - £ SEN allowance (£2,539 to £5,009).

    SENISS are part of the SEND Support Services within Children's Services, Liverpool Local Authority. It is a hybrid role, working in schools and settings with an office based at Parklands Customer Focus Centre, Speke.

    This role provides a unique opportunity to support the inclusive arrangements in settings and support speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and promote the Local Authority's SEND Strategy and Education Improvement Priorities. You will assist schools and settings to address the speech, language and communication needs of pupils through screening, intervention and support. You will coordinate the additional provision through the SLCN Resourced Provision within the city working in collaboration with the Speech and Language Therapy Service to identify pupils for placement within the SLCN Resourced Provision.

    This role requires creative solutions, effective collaborative practices, based on strong knowledge and strategies in relation to special educational needs.

    SENISS aims to empower settings and children and young people with SEND to achieve a positive and fulfilled futures.

    Responsibilities:

  • Supporting schools and settings around their speech, language and communication needs including social communication needs.
  • Specialist assessment of pupils to inform the decision process around the appropriateness and availability of placements into the SLCN Resourced Provision
  • Collection and analysis of termly pupil progress data to improve pupil outcomes and inform the graduated approach of assess, plan, do review
  • Supporting the transition of pupils returning to their home nursery/school by liaising with the SLCN resourced provision Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists and the home nursery/school teachers
  • To work as part of a team around the school to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils with SLCN and SEND
