    Job DescriptionThe Head of Product Data Governance role is accountable to establish cross functional data management processes and digital solutions that ensure data is fit for purpose at source in order to accelerate operational processes and is ready for analytical and artificial intelligence use cases.

    This position shapes the full lifecycle of our product data and establishes ownership at each stage.

    You will be required to lead a global cross functional team in a matrixed environment to establish, streamline and strengthen the data management capabilities in each function, defining their data scope, facilitating commitments for data quality and holding teams accountable.

    Additionally, you will collaborate with various teams to drive end-to-end improvements and issue resolutions that go beyond the scope of a single function.

    This role reports into Vice President Data and Analytics and is a key member of the Data & Analytics (D&A) leadership team that needs to influence across the organisation using a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, ideation, and execution.

    ResponsibilitiesStrategic
    Identify data stewards who will be responsible for data quality, data lineage, and data ownership. Collaborate with business units to establish data governance roles and responsibilities throughout the organization.
    Develop processes, controls and dashboards to monitor and improve data quality. This includes data profiling, data cleansing, and establishing data quality metrics and benchmarks.
    Define and enforce data policies and standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity across the organization. This includes data classification, naming conventions, data quality metrics, and data retention policies.
    Implement measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with abcam policies. This involves implementing access controls, and monitoring data handling practices.
    Own, evolve and moderate the abcam data catalogue from a data governance perspective.
    Leadership

    Work closely with business units, Digital teams, legal departments, and other stakeholders to align data governance efforts with organizational objectives.

    Establish strong relationships and partnerships to facilitate data management initiatives.
    Partner and skilfully collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to understand requirements and incorporate them into the data governance roadmap

    Foster a data-driven culture within the organization by promoting awareness of data governance principles and providing training to employees on data handling best practices.

    QualificationsSignificant experience of working with data across its lifecycle to deliver business value (e.g. customer, product, finance, reference data)Deep understanding of product master data and product lifecycle management, ideally within the life sciences industryExperience of working alongside data and solution architects, data scientists, data modelers, data quality analysts and end users of dataPractical experience of product management tools and techniques, e.g.

    building roadmaps, creating and delivering backlogs, prioritisation approachesWorking knowledge of the Digital marketplace and current trends in technology, data and relevant applications.
