The BI service's mission is to use the Council's data in collaborative and imaginative ways so that insight and intelligence is at the heart of how the Council operates and improves services to residents.

The Public Health BI Lead is responsible for leading the Public Health Intelligence function within the organisation.

This role will lead on developing a suite of key needs assessments that cover a wide range of thematic areas and will involve extensive engagement with external stakeholders.

One of the key responsibilities for this role is the further improve the evidence base used to inform effective commissioning and intervention strategies.

This includes creating area profiles, needs assessments and interactive dashboards.

This role will also be responsible for ensuring all public health statutory returns are completed on time.

The Public Health BI Lead role will also identify opportunities for improvement in Public Health outcomes across the organisation through analysis and support services to implement any changes including the adoption of new technological solutions.

Role Responsibilities:


  • Lead on the creation and improvement of the Public Health evidence base to inform commissioning strategies and service provisions.
  • Lead on the creation of a highquality suite of needs assessments that cover a wide range of thematic areas.
  • Manage the creation of factsheets covering various public health topics and area profiles.
  • Develop strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including external organisation such as the NHS.
  • Ensure the completion of all public health statutory returns.
  • Lead on the collation of requirements from stakeholders and translate these into BI solutions.
  • Lead and effectively manage a team of analysts ensuring that a collaborative working environment is created, and staff are further developed within their roles.
  • Lead on the development and maintenance of the Public Health performance management framework.
  • Carry out distinctive pieces of analysis to support Public Health to improve service provision and outcomes for residents.
  • Proactively research and understand new statistical techniques including machine learning that can be deployed within Public Health to improve service delivery.
  • Work closely with the BI development team to ensure technology is leveraged to improve the functionality of our products and increase automation.
