Purpose of the Role:


  • The purpose of this role is to be able to produce and place insurance risks into Lloyd's and the London and International insurance markets on the best available terms and conditions with secure and reputable underwriters/insurance companies. You will need to assist in the preparation and placing of insurance risks into the Lloyd's, London and overseas insurance and reinsurance markets by organising and providing uptodate documentary information and delivering effective technical, processing and marketing services.

Key Role Accountabilities:


  • Support the existing North American Property book of business.
  • Developing new business opportunities, maintaining, and adding growth and value to the business of the Company
  • Review client submission and structure marketing strategies.
  • Structuring placements
  • Ability to review slips, wordings, and endorsements prior to placement.
  • Planning, constructing, and executing solutions to clients' or potential clients' needs; managing relationships with and servicing existing and potential clients and underwriters, all in a manner that contributes to the efforts of the Division to meet and exceed its targets.
  • Negotiating insurance contracts with underwriters, and developing and placing profitable business
  • Place risks on best terms and in the most appropriate and secure market.
  • Maintain and build on existing relationships with underwriters to be able to negotiate the best terms for the client.
  • Contribute to business development with recommendations during marketing and renewal meetings.
  • Provide and gather information to and from Underwriters, Brokers, Technical Staff and Business Producers as required.
  • Provide proactive service to ensure the efficient day to day handling of client requirements.
  • Produce statistical information/reports as required.
  • Manage and undertake assigned project work to time scales as directed.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • A minimum of 6 years insurance experience in a North American Property division.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in handling North American Property business.
  • High level of experience in operating within the London market & International market.
  • High level of confidence in all technical and complex risks.
  • High level of confidence in reviewing slips and wordings.

Person Specification:


  • A level with GCSE (or equivalent) passes in Maths and English
  • ACII or equivalent professional qualification or working towards
  • Previous broking experience and understanding and knowledge of general insurance and underlying legal principles.
  • Knowledge of Business production orientation and divisional specialism
  • Ability to build and maintain profitable longterm relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing skills, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative team working approach.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Accurate and attentive to detail
  • Ability to work with employees at all organisational levels.
