    Proofreader

    Salary: £25,000 per annum, plus company benefits

    Location: Leeds, LS10 1AB

    Contract: Full Time and Permanent

    Shifts: 40 hours, Tuesday to Saturday, 8am until 5pm with 1 hour break

    Work model: Fully on site due to nature of role

    We are seeking an exceptional Proofreader to join our team

    Purpose of role

    The Proofreader will have incredible attention to detail. This role is working on behalf of a magic circle law firm, one of the top 3 in the world. You will be proofreading key legal documents.

    Key responsibilities

    Your role is key and will involve proofreading and transcribing legal documents for grammar and verbiage corrections.

  • Detect formatting and compositional errors in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents
  • Correct spelling grammar and verbiage errors in complex legal documents
  • Rechecking corrected documents against mark-up for comparison and quality assurance
  • Complete sense, grammar and consistency read-throughs of standard legal documents and marketing documents including full read throughs and skim reads
  • Checking conversions - PDF to Word, OCR, copy-typing, PowerPoint and Creative Services requests for language and format issues
  • Produce and reformat international pitches and experience statements in line with house styles and marketing guidelines
  • Handle sensitive and or confidential documents and information
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Personal attributes

  • Previous experience working within a Law firm would be advantageous but not essential, successful hires have include recent graduates and applicants with copywriting experience. The key is your attention to details and knowledge of the English language
  • Degrees in relevant subjects such as, English language, English literature, creative writing and any other
  • Ideally 1 years in copy editing, proofreading and copywriting
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with a sound knowledge of grammar and spelling
  • You will be used to writing SEO-enriched copy and ensuring all articles are ready to be published
  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Confident IT user particularly with Microsoft packages
