Wehave implemented many awardwinning schemes in environmentallysensitive locations.

    Due to our everincreasingclient portfolio and the continuing development of ourarboricultural department we are looking to appoint an AssistantArboricultural Consultant who is starting their career.

    The position provides the right candidate withan ideal opportunity to be a part of a highly motivated team whoprovide a broad mix of technical advice to a diverse range ofclients covering development projects across all aspects ofarboriculture. Our team undertakes tree surveys and prepareArboricultural Impact Assessments in accordance with BS5837: Treesin Relation to Design Demolition and Construction Recommendations.They will also be involved in projects covering the preparation ofWoodland Management Plans Veteran Tree Assessments NHBC Surveys andTree Risk and Benefit Assessments for management oftrees.

    Principalresponsibilities/key duties:

    • To undertake tree surveys for a range of developmentapplications and construction projects (to BS 5837:2012);
    • Assist with carrying out tree health surveyshazard assessments visual tree inspection and risk assessmentsurveys;
    • Prepare Tree Survey Plans andincluding Tree Protection Plans;
    • Assist with arange of reporting including Arboricultural Impact Assessments andArboricultural Method Statements;
    • Collatinginformation to assist with advice on a broad range ofarboricultural issues for a range of clients; and
    • Undertake on site construction supervisionwhere retained trees are being protected.

    Skills andExperience:

    The candidate may notnecessarily have a background in consultancy but must have apassion for trees and ideally experience in a related environmentalsubject such as:

    • Treesurgery/Arboriculture/Forestry
    • Ecology/Conservation/Habitat Management
    • Planning/Local Authority
    • Surveying/Engineering

    Ideally the AssistantArboricultural Consultant candidate will:

    • Have a Level 2 or higher qualification in arboricultureor equivalent environmental discipline;
    • Haveexcellent tree identification skills;
    • Have agood level of written English;
    • Enjoy workingoutside at all times of year but also work within an office;
    • Have a professional attitude being punctualselfdisciplined and having an ability to proactively manage theirtime to required working deadlines;
    • Have apassion for Arboriculture and sustainable environmental design;
    • Have computer literacy with experience of MSWord and Excel; and
    • Hold a current UK drivinglicence and access to own vehicle.

    Desirable skills and experience:

    • Membership of a relevant professional association/bodysuch as the Arboricultural Association Royal Forestry Society orInstitute of Chartered Foresters;
    • Knowledge ofGIS/AutoCAD systems would be advantageous but training will beprovided;
    • Experience of technical reportwriting including Arboricultural Impact Assessments andArboricultural Method Statements;
    • Experienceof undertaking tree hazard surveys and surveys in accordance withBS5837:2012; and
    • A working knowledge ofpractical tree management and working practices.
