    Role Description

    • Arrange assessment of Occupational Therapy needs for services and work collaboratively with children and families to meet the identified needs of individuals and to confirm in writing with the client the agreed objectives and expected outcomes.
    • To involve parents/carers in the process and take into account their needs as well as those of the client.
    • Carry a caseload and provide advice, support, and advocacy according to OT expertise for clients and carers, as appropriate.
    • To negotiate the delivery of services with providers and other Agencies, e.g., specialist adaptive equipment suppliers, home improvement agencies, and Housing
    • To work collaboratively with other professionals around the child and families, eg. social workers, physiotherapists, and community nurses
    • To identify with the Senior/Assistant Team Manager the level of resources required and, where necessary, provide clinical reasoning to support provision. Cost-effectiveness in relation to service delivery should be considered.
    • To monitor the progress of the written objectives and outcomes, taking into account the child's/families' views and needs using a flexible approach.
    • To participate in other activities that would benefit from applying OT professional skills, e.g., working parties, extraordinary service developments, policy formulation, group work, and community development work.
    • To inform the management team of specific unmet needs or inadequate budgetary provision and, where appropriate, seek alternative sources
    • To maintain up-to-date electronic case records and fulfill departmental procedures and statutory duties
    • To ensure HCPC and COT Code of Ethics meet OT professional standards
    • To actively participate in professional supervision
    • To carry out other tasks as required

    Qualifications

    • Sensory Integration, Occupational Therapy, and Pediatrics skills
    • Experience in working with children and providing early intervention
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to assess, develop, and implement individualised treatment plans
    • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and current research in paediatric occupational therapy
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
    • Valid state licensure and certification in occupational therapy
    • Experience with sensory integration techniques and interventions
    • Experience in a variety of clinical settings, such as schools or outpatient clinics, is a plus
