    Description

    We are looking for a Cost Assurance Auditor to join our project team, working on a Joint Venture in our major projects division as part of the HS2 project in the Birmingham Area.

    You will play a key part in cost verification generally on our open book contract, specifically liaising with external auditors conducted by our customer and HS2 as well as performing self-verification checks on our costs highlighting areas for improvement with regards to compliance and process.

    You will work as part of a small team, with the combined purpose of ensuring compliance with contract requirements

    What you'll be doing

    • Gain expertise in our costs and processes and respond to audits by our customer and HS2
    • Review findings of the regular (quarterly) sampling by our customer in order to identify gaps in process and capture these in order to improve consistency across the project
    • Provide expertise in processes by reviewing, documenting, recommending and improving them
    • Improve compliance with processes through education and communications
    • Perform cost assurance and compliance checks across a range of cost processes
    • Carry out cost compliance checks, to ensure that costs are charged in line with the contract

    Who we're looking for

    • Part-Qualified or Qualified accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent)
    • Strong accounting experience with a sound understanding of process (essential)
    • Advanced user of Ms Excel, Ms Power Point and Ms Word (desirable)
    • Strong analytical skills and comfortable working with large volumes of data in excel Power BI knowledge advantageous
    • A good understanding and working knowledge of accounting and reporting systems (Oracle experience would be an advantage)
    • The ability to challenge existing process, controls and delivery to improve performance
    • Ability to communicate and support implementation through to non-Finance colleagues
    • Team-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability and able to work under minimal supervision on individual tasks and with stakeholders as needed
