Are you fascinated by innovative technology and excited by the opportunity to work first-hand on military platforms and combat systems? We currently have a position for a Security Engineering Manager within our Maritime Electronic Warfare Programme (MEWP)team here at DE&S.


The MEWP capability delivers digital sensors for electronic warfare surveillance across the full threat spectrum together with an electronic warfare command and control system.

This assists in warfighting decision making, to enable the launch of associatedelectronic warfare counter measures.

These projects are diverse and potentially involve a wide range of contractors, international collaboration, and cutting-edge technology development in order to deliver battle winning electronic surveillance capabilityto NCHQ.

The Security Engineering Manager is responsible as the technical authority for capability security and resilience, delivery of the Security Case, and Assured Capability for the systems and equipment within MEWP Programme


This is a challenging environment, where you will be empowered to provide guidance and advice on areas including cyber risk management, system integration, security accreditation, threat analysis, and information technology assessment within agreed timeframes and budgets.

Due to security, this role is reserved for sole UK nationals only.


Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide Security support to MEWP Projects in Assessment, Demonstration, Manufacturing and in-service phase, including trials planning and management, installation planning, schedule, and transition into service management
  • Act as the focal point for providing assurance that equipment and systems are secure and resilient by design, generating key security artefacts and facilitating effective communications between security stakeholders
  • Coordinate the identification of relevant technical threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring suitable mitigations are selected and implemented in coherence with other engineering and safety requirements
  • Document and analyse technical security risks, ensuring these are raised to the appropriate risk owner, and that appropriate controls are deployed and maintained throughout the engineering lifecycle
  • Own security engineering outputs in line with the security Management Plan
  • Manage the Security Working Group, chairing, managing action tracker, recording and disseminating minutes
  • Reviewing supplier proposals and technical documentation for compliance with Engineering and Security processes and ensure compliance of suppliers with relevant Statements of Work(s)

Person specification

  • Have working knowledge of information security risk management principles and methods, or a relevant industryrecognised certification such as ISACA CRISC (Certified in Information Risk and compliance) or FAIR (Factor Analysis or Information Risk)
  • You will have experience in an IT, or Engineering field such as Network Engineering or Cyber Security or experience in a related field such as Intelligence, Business Continuity, IT Security or Establishment Security
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:

  • Familiarity with Maritime Electronic Warfare Environment or with Combat Systems such as Weapons Systems, Radar Systems, Combat Systems, Software Integration, Communication Systems, Counter Measures, or Spectrum Management
