    Description
    Gaydon

JLR is harnessing technology to make driving smarter, safer and cleaner. You can help create a world in which responsible, sustainable vehicles revolutionise the driving experience for generations. Our vision is to leverage the incredible potential of technology to build vehicles that not only offer a premium, all-encompassing digital experience, but that also make our customers lives better.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

The role will be within the next generation vehicle motion control team, formed of engineers from Chassis Engineering and Electrical Engineering departments. The team develops control systems and delivers software design for existing and future Chassis, Electrical, ADAS Motion Control, and various new technologies and enhancing the driving experience and working towards the goal of autonomous driving.

The role is leading the system design and architcture of next generation ADAS motion control systems within a team specialised in the creation and deployment of ADAS lateral and longitudinal motion control. The systems being developed cover a wide range of autonomy from ADAS level 1 to ADAS level 4 and Off road capabilities. The role is supporting the re-architecting of in-house model-based Control Systems to be compatible with the next generation of vehicle electrical architectures. The role will require you to develop an in-depth understand of the influence of new electrical architectures on the system and define architectural changes that retain or enhance system performance.

You will also support delivery of rigorous Functional Safety and Cyber Security cases, produce system design and architecture documentation in accordance with industry best practise and internal standards as well as lead creation of the comprehensive requirements decks, interface specifications and other artefacts required in the implementation phase.

    Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Leading the definition of logical system design for motion control.
  • Leading the definition of logical system functional requirements for motion control
  • Leading the definition of system architectures for motion control to be compatible with the next generation of vehicle electrical architectures and network architectures.
  • Leading the definition of interface control document (ICD) for both internal and network architecture.
  • Generating technical evidence to show that architectures meet JLR standards and system performance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a system development plan in line with system engineering best practices within an agile framework.
  • Deliver the required documentation of motion system at logical, physical and implementation levels.
  • Supporting Functional Safety and Cyber Security analysis of motion system architectures and identifying mitigation strategies to meet system safety goals.
  • Identifying requirements for cascade to elements beyond the system boundary ( sensors, electrical architecture, ECU base software etc).
  • Define network communication requirements for the systems. Submit requirements into the networks design process with documentation and providing support throughout the approvals process.
  • Define work packages required to realise and test control systems.
  • WHAT YOU'LL NEED

    Essential:

  • Experienced in Model Based System Design using SysML.
  • Excellent understanding of the vehicle dynamics, longitudinal motion (braking and propulsion), lateral motion, Chassis features, ADAS features.
  • Exposure to Model Based Control System Design
  • An understanding of vehicle network communications, ECUs and electronics
  • Prior experience of Model Based software delivery for safety critical systems in accordance with a quality management process.
  • A good technical understanding of sensors, ADCs, and current drive devices.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Development or a related subject (Desirable)
