Full Time - 10 PAs per week

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Paediatrician to support the acute services at Ormskirk District General Hospital.

This post is part of the acute service and will require the post holder to support an on call service, inpatient ward cover, neonatal ward cover and outpatient clinics.

We encourage applicants with an interest in Paediatric Cardiology, however this is desirable but not essential. Applicants with other specialist interests are also encouraged to apply.

Provide clinical leadership
Set standards of clinical care
Participate in the development of acute child health services
Promote integration between primary and secondary care services
Promote preventative health
The post holder will be expected to subscribe to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Continuing Personal Development (CPD) Scheme.
He/she will also be required to keep abreast of current developments in acute and neonatal paediatrics.
He/she will be expected to maintain APLS and NLS provider status.
The postholder will contribute to the hospital Paediatrician of the Week rota on a 1 in 10 basis.
The postholder will contribute to the Consultant oncall rota on a 1 in 10 basis. The acute on call duties of which comprises of covering the paediatric and Level 2 Neonatal unit. This includes a resident component in the evening until 8pm to help meet the RCPCH Standards. The shift is nonresident following from 8pm to 9am.
The postholder will contribute to the hospital Neonatal consultant of the Week rota on a 1 in 10 basis (9am to 5pm basis Monday to Friday).
The appointee will work closely with paediatric colleagues to develop and improve general Paediatrics and community integrated care services for children.

The Trust provides a combination of services, which is split between the two hospital sites namely Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital.

All paediatric in-patient and outpatient work is based at Ormskirk District General Hospital although there may be occasions when the post-holder may be asked to attend Southport District General Hospital.
