Description

To provide a clinical dietetic service as requested by the Lead Dietitian, providing advice on management, planning and development of dietetic treatment programmes to service users and health professionals.

Assessing patients nutritional status and requirements and giving dietary advice/recommendations including use of supplements and enteral feeding as required.


Provide a general dietetic outpatient clinics, assessing patients dietary needs and giving appropriate written/verbal advice and arranging appropriate follow up.

Provide cover for other clinics as requested.


To produce or review diet sheets and nutritional resources as required, in line with current guidelines and evidence based practice.

To participate in staff training and give lectures/talks to other groups as requested by the Lead Dietitian.

  • Patient education sessions
- teaching sessions for students and staff e.g. nursing and medical students
- ward based training as required to qualified and unqualified staff

This may involve large groups of varying levels of knowledge or education.


After relevant post registration experience and training, to participate in the training of student dietitians including supervision, assessments, tutorials and feedback to the student.

Training is to be adapted to the needs of the student on an individual basis.


An opportunity has arisen at Lincoln County Hospital for a dietitian that would provide excellent experience of general dietetics based in a large acute unit.

The post holder would work with both in and outpatients including support to medicine, surgery and complex care.

We are very keen to support staff to develop their knowledge, skills and competencies and you would have the opportunity to work alongside other staff to develop skills in specialist areas e.g.

paediatrics, diabetes. This post would suit a newly qualified HCPC registered Dietitian or someone seeking a wide range of experience. We are committed to professional development and support both informal and formal CPD.

We are a friendly and welcoming department of 20 staff based on the Lincoln site, which includes secretarial and assistant support.

The Trust-wide dietetic department is based on 3 sites and there is a programme of CPD sessions and post-qualification training opportunities.

We support dietetic student placements from the University of Nottingham for A,B and C placements. On-site accommodation is usually available.

Lincoln County Hospital is the largest of our hospital sites, situated next to the cathedral quarter in the north of the city.
