    Job summary

    The Countywide Adult Speech & Language Therapy Team is looking for a newly qualified Speech & Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive department. You will be a motivated and active team member with excellent communication skills.

    This post provides an exciting opportunity to develop skills and knowledge across a general adult community caseload as well as specialist skills in stroke rehabilitation. The post involves sessions within the acclaimed Northamptonshire Community Stroke Team and Community clinics.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will independently manage a caseload receiving and accessing support and supervision from senior colleaguesand will be part of the Community Stroke Team helping provide assessment and specialist rehabilitation to patients across the county in their own homes.

    You will be assigned a mentor and aim to complete your NQP competencies within the first year. We promote attendance at bi-monthly countywide adult SLT meetings and specialist clinical forums. All staff are encouraged to become members of Special Interest Groups and we have a strong culture of clinical supervision.

    Ideally you will have relevant undergraduate experience of working in the acute setting and have a keen interest in dysphagia and communication impairment within the acute and community settings. In-house dysphagia training and competencies will be provided, with the opportunity to complete an accredited post graduate Dysphagia Course.

    You will supervise students with support and will work alongside SLT support practitioners, rehabilitation assistants and volunteers when required. You will be required to work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team and will participate in the development and delivery of training to others.
