- Design and engineer therapeutic antibodies for projects across the UCB portfolio
- Clone and express antibodies in mammalian cell culture (CHO and HEK-293 cells) to provide material for assessment
- Use structural insights and computational methods and optimise antibody candidate sequences to improve their eligibility for development
- Analyse and interpret data to design next experiments
- Collaborate with internal UCB teams to ensure work is carried out to a high standard and achieving agreed timelines
- BSc in a relevant scientific discipline (PhD desirable)
- A background in molecular biology, protein / antibody expression in mammalian cell culture and/ or structural biology
- Experience in antibody cloning/ engineering or biophysical characterisation
- An inquisitive and innovative nature with the desire for continuous learning
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders
- Proactive and positive mindset with a passion for scientific research

UCB's Antibody Discovery and Optimisation Department are looking for a Research / Senior Scientist with a passion for delivering innovative, antibody- based therapeutics for patients suffering with serious disease.
About the role
As a member of the Antibody Humanisation and Engineering team at UCB you will cover various aspects of the antibody development process, including antibody engineering and humanisation design using structural information, antibody cloning and generation of expression plasmids and purification and characterisation of the biophysical properties of candidate antibody molecules.
