Job Summary

Background

We're building a strong Group centre in Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing (CABM) to support the Bank's strategy and aspirations and deliver a step change in our communications outcomes.

We're doing this by bringing together the specialist teams that protectand strengthen our global brand, reputation and culture, and one of these teams is our new Story Lab.

The Story Lab will produce creative and compelling global content, working closely with our Digital Channels team to drive positive engagement with our clients, colleagues and corporate stakeholders across owned and earned channels.

Together, the two teamswill form an 'integrated storytelling engine' at the heart of the Bank, collaborating with our Data & Insights team to measure and optimise content performance against CABM objectives.


Overview

As Content Lead for Story Lab, you will be responsible for 360° storytelling in owned, earned and paid channels for both internal and external audiences.

You will be looking after one or more of our key narrative themes - trade, a just transition to net-zero,wealth management, lifting participation, sustainability and global impact, technology and innovation, diversity and inclusion and Group performance - turning the Bank's news, insights and stories into compelling content.


Responsibilities

Strategy:


  • Support the Head of Global Content and Editorial Planning, Story Lab, and the Head of Digital Channels to develop and deliver an effective calendar of global content that will improve the Bank's visibility and reputation with clients, colleagues and externalstakeholders
  • Work with business stakeholders, and regional and country teams, to develop an effective global content strategy and calendar
  • Help deliver on relevant objectives and key results (OKRs) for Story Lab and CABM more broadly
  • Be a proactive and valueadding member of the Story Lab team

Business:


  • Scope, plan and deliver thematic content that will reach and engage key audiences, working with internal CABM and business teams and external content agencies, and using an insightsled approach
  • Write and publish content across all formats
  • Report on the impact of thematic content and campaigns, building on key learnings
  • Continuously innovate, exploring new content campaign tactics to reach OKRs
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with communicators across the Bank's business, functions and regions to make the most of storytelling opportunities
  • Keep up to date with latest content trends and themes in the financial sector and beyond
  • Build and maintain strong awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic, market and regulatory environment in which the Group operates as well as the Group's business model and how we operate at a global and regional level

Processes:


  • Maintain efficient and compliant approval processes for all published content
  • Help ensure an efficient exchange of proof points and stories across the organisation

People & Talent:


  • Engage in continuous learning, using available opportunities internally and externally, to keep pace with latest content trends and innovation in the external environment
  • Help to upskill and coach other members of the Story Lab team
  • Be an engaged and valueadding member of Story Lab

Risk Management:


  • Manage operational and reputational risk in all content output, maintaining an effective governance framework, and escalating as required

Governance:


  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, as well as the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

Qualifications:


  • Background in journalism and/or PR and corporate communications, preferably in financial services
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
  • Experience of multiaudience, multichannel content marketing, across all content formats
  • Experience in managing PR and content agencies
  • Audiencefocused and insightsled approach to content production
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network with and influence senior stakeholders in the Bank
  • Adept at exercising good judgment and 'doing the right thing'
  • Able to think fast and work quickly under pressure
  • A selfstarter with the ability to take the initiative
  • Strong sense of responsibility and perseverance
  • Courageous and willing to provide constructive challenge to senior leadership
