    Job Description


    We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Acoustic Consultant with particular experience in Railway Acoustics to join the AECOM Acoustics team.

    All offices across the UK will be considered.


    You will contribute to a wide range of acoustics projects primarily covering railway acoustics and environmental vibration, but also opportunities to manage and grow work across broader areas of building acoustics and environmental acoustics.

    You would have responsibilities for the development and mentoring of junior staff, potentially including line management duties.


    The ideal candidate will have experience of winning work and providing expert advice to clients on acoustics across a range of sectors.

    We are seeking personnel with the ability to demonstrate experience of resourcing and delivering complex and challenging acoustics projects.

    You will have a strong track record of working in acoustics and preferably have experience of a range of acoustics commissions from small projects to major multi-disciplinary projects covering sound, noise and vibration (SNV) technical areas.

    You will have a solid background in acoustics, be someone who is innovative and is willing to exploit the latest technologies, but who can explain acoustics to a non-technical audience.

We advise clients on building, environmental and occupational acoustics, noise mapping, vibration, industrial noise control, audio-visual design and auralisation.

    A member of the Association of Noise Consultants and Sponsor of the Institute of Acoustics, AECOM Acoustics has a team of over 50 acousticians working across the UK.

    We are looking for a candidate who wants to help grow what is already one of the UK's largest acoustic consultancies.

    To be successful in this role the candidates should have:


    A thorough understanding of the Environmental Impact Assessment process regarding Sound, Noise and Vibration (SNV), be capable of technically reviewing SNV assessment reports and new work proposals delegated by the team managers.

    Significant railway acoustics and/or environmental vibration experience.

    Experience of providing advice to clients on acoustics projects.

    Experience of undertaking acoustic modelling using CadnaA, CATT/Odeon, etc software.

    Lead the acoustic input, undertake predictions, assessment, and write reports on a range of projects.


    Previous experience in environmental noise and vibration assessment and a good understanding of noise and vibration related health impact assessment and be able to lead such projects would be beneficial.


    Proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell services to internal and external clients and assist with the winning of sufficient work from internal and external clients to support self and to contribute to the team.

    Manage own workload to make time available to accelerate the development of technical skills in more junior staff, including being available to provide on the job advice and instruction and to develop new lines of work or smarter ways of working

    Qualifications


    A first degree (and preferably a post graduate qualification such as a Masters) in acoustics or relevant technical disciplines (e.g.

    Physics, Maths or Engineering)

    Corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA/FIOA).

    Chartered status or evidence of working towards this.

    Full clean driving licence.
