    Quantitative Research Engineer - Market Microstructure

    Our client is a leading Hedge Fund headquartered in London and is seeking a Quantitative Research Engineer to join their equities trading desk.     As a Quantitative Research Engineer, you will play a crucial role in analyzing, understanding, and optimizing the intricacies of market dynamics, order flow, and execution strategies. Leveraging your expertise in market microstructure, you will collaborate closely with traders, quantitative analysts, and software engineers to design and implement solutions that enhance trading performance and efficiency.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct in-depth analysis of equity market microstructure, including order book dynamics, liquidity profiles, and execution venues.
    • Develop quantitative models and algorithms to optimize trading strategies, minimize market impact, and improve execution quality.
    • Utilize advanced statistical techniques and data analysis methodologies to extract insights from large datasets of market and trading data.
    • Collaborate closely with quantitative analysts, traders, and compliance professionals to assess market risk and develop proactive strategies to mitigate market toxicity.
    • Design and implement low-latency trading systems and algorithms, with a focus on latency optimization and performance enhancement.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate market microstructure insights into trading systems and algorithms.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and technological advancements in market microstructure and algorithmic trading.

    Requirements:

    • Proven experience working in a quantitative/engineering role within the financial industry, with a focus on market microstructure or market toxicity.
    • Strong understanding of order types, market venues, and execution protocols.
    • Equities market microstructure experience would be very beneficial.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python or MATLAB along with experience in data analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
    • Familiarity with low-latency trading systems, high-performance computing, and algorithmic trading strategies.
    • Strong academic background in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering subject from a leading university.
