    Base Location: Perth, Edinburgh or Glasgow

    Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance related bonus and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

    Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | options available

    We are currently looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Energy Markets Risk team, with a focus on managing the key risks inherent in the wholesale energy markets in which SSE operates.

    You will challenge, influence, and engage with all levels of the trading and optimisation function to ensure controls are upheld and that they are securing optimal revenues from asset backed trading activity (renewables assets, thermal power stations)

    You will undertake a key role in the business as part of a team who are responsible for commodity position management and reporting, market risk analysis and complex modelling of SSE's diverse portfolio of assets.

    Own the successful delivery of projects that ensure effective controls and continuous improvement programmes are delivered.

    You will be comfortable with big data and demonstrate a flair for creating innovative solutions to meet changing needs and requirements.

    As a senior member of the team you will play an important part in fostering a culture of innovation and improvement, helping generate ideas and seeing them brought to fruition.

    What do I need?

    We are looking for someone who will play a leading role in supporting the business in providing insight into financial risks through operating and trading in the wholesale energy markets. We would love you to have:

    Experience of working in an energy trading environment and having an in depth understanding of wholesale energy markets (including power, gas, and carbon) is essential.

    Problem solving and mathematical modelling will be essential to your success in this role along with developing a comprehensive understanding of SSE's exposure to wholesale energy markets. Familiarity with Lacima Analytics, ZEMA, Power BI and Python (or equivalent) would be highly beneficial.

    Professional qualifications such as the FRM or ERP qualification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (or equivalent) would also be advantageous.

    You should be fully aware of the accounting and regulatory classification pertaining to energy commodities; have strategic awareness of the energy industry and be a highly analytical thinker with the ability to distil complex information and communicate on a variety of levels.

    You will be comfortable dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders within the company and effective in building strong working relationships with other business areas.
