    To work in a senior position to assess, plan and implement care for patients with complex wound problems and requiring plastic reconstructive surgery. This includes ward based patients, those attending the outpatient clinics and dealing with email/telephone queries from patients and health care professionals in the community. The post holder will also contribute to service development, audit and trust wide education.

    Main duties of the job The post holder needs to have knowledge and skills in plastic surgery nursing. Key aspects of this include:
    • direct wound care management
    • liaison with services in a variety of environments to put in place complex wound care packages
    • nurse led scar clinics
    • patient information giving and support
    • Wound and plastic surgery nursing related education in both informal and formal settings.

    • Provide day-to-day management of the nurse led plastic dressing clinics, consultant led outpatient clinics and the management of junior staff rotated into those areas.
    • Support and deputise for the Plastic Surgery CNS and the Lead Clinical Nurse in Plastic Surgery to ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and resources.
    • Review patients undergoing plastic surgery intervention on wards and provide remote support to patients and nursing services in other care settings.
    • Contribute to education and training opportunities for all staff managing patients undergoing plastic surgery.
