    About us

    Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust(BHFT) was formed in April 2001 and successfully became licensed as aFoundation Trust in May 2007. In April 2011 the community serviceswhich were previously the provider arms of NHS Berkshire East and NHS BerkshireWest PCTs merged with the Trust.

    The maincentres of population are Reading in the West of the County and Slough in theEast. Within Berkshire there are alsomajor populations at Newbury, Wokingham in the West and Bracknell, Maidenhead,Windsor and Ascot in the East, as well and many significant urban developmentsin smaller towns forming essentially a single conurbation along the M4Corridor.

    Berkshireis characterised by concentrations of population and large rural areas. It includes some of the most affluent andleast deprived communities in the country, but also has pockets of markedlydeprived wards. The Trust is part of two IntegratedCare Systems (Frimley ICS and Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire & Berkshire WestICS) and partners with six local unitary authorities.

    Experience

    Essential

  • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
  • Desirable

  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment.
  • Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych
  • Additional clinical qualifications.
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
