    Head of Executive Compensation & HR Risk About Schroders

    The People & Culture team is responsible for ensuring that Schroders maximises the return on its investment in people and does this through the development and implementation of policies and practices that attract, reward and retain high quality employees, to achieve business objectives in line with our values and strategic goals.

    We're looking for a Head of Executive Compensation and HR Risk to lead on matters relating to overall executive compensation and people risk & regulations.

    Strong judgement – making sound recommendations, taking into account all relevant factors;
    A love of data and data analytics and commitment to ensuring decisions are data-driven;
    Understand the need for confidentiality in dealing with all HR issues.
    Executive Compensation

    Be responsible for Schroders plc Remuneration Committee and AGM processes, including proactive identification of agenda items, drafting/reviewing papers, leading meetings to discuss the papers with the Chief People Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Group Chief Executive, Remuneration Committee Chair and Remuneration independent Committee advisers.

    Paper drafting would involve/be led by other members of the Reward & Analytics team where relevant for the topic (e.g. compensation review, carried interest etc.);

    Proactively identify and explore where changes to plc Director remuneration arrangements, disclosures or wider reward frameworks should be considered, e.g.

    in the context of latest shareholder expectations, regulatory requirements, business strategy or wider industry themes/trends. Ensure decisions relating to plc director remuneration structures are appropriately implemented and work with wider compensation managers to implement and monitor wider reward framework changes and

    Lead preparation of the directors'remuneration report, with focus on clarity of strategic messaging and best practice as well as compliance with listing rules/proxy expectations and data collation.

    Oversee regulatory processes and disclosures, working with an analyst to ensure timely and accurate identification of Material Risk Takers and related regulatory submissions.

    Oversee compliance with the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR), including oversight of Fitness & Propriety assessments (annual review and ad hoc assessments for new joiners/role changes) and support for SMF applications in coordination with Compliance and HR BPs;

    Critically evaluate Schroders'approach to regulatory compliance, identifying where/how our approach could be improved in the context of market trends, regulator expectations and Schroders'commercial context.

    Identify and oversee implementation of process improvements, with particular focus on demonstrating continuous improvement in all recurrent regulatory processes;
    Preparation for & attendance at the Conduct Assessment Group, comprised of control function heads and chaired by the CPO to identify conduct rules breaches and events for which compensation adjustments may be required;
    Presentation to key regulated subsidiary boards to provide updates on people risks and regulatory developments and

    Wider risk reporting, including an annual People and Employment Practices risk report, Group Conflicts Committee report, quarterly Conduct risk and Financial Crime MI reports, and periodic review of the Code of Ethics.

    Management & leadership

    People management:
    currently two direct reports (one SMCR specialist and one analyst); structure to be reviewed in due course as part of centralisation of regulatory activities across wider UK subsidiaries and

    Leadership:
    actively contribute towards wider People & Culture agenda as a senior member of the team.
    Strong knowledge of UK and European remuneration regulations impacting financial services including some or all of CRD V, AIFMD, UCITS, IFPR, Solvency II and SMCR;
    Strong financial literacy, for example through having studied accountancy/finance qualifications;
    Experience of reward in financial services, ideally gained from both in-house and consulting environments;
    Experience of operating in UK PLC environments and managing Remuneration Committees;
    Strong problem-solving skills, with proven ability to evaluate internal and external advice, making appropriate recommendations to ensure compliance with regulations whilst taking into consideration commercial considerations, internal consistency and operational efficiency;
    Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
    Experience of retail and alternative asset management and
    Experience using HRIS and technology systems, ideally one or more of Oracle and Anaplan.
