    Default job background
    Description

    Position type: Large Animal Veterinarian

You're a great veterinarian with an adventurous side who is starting to get itchy feet. Maybe you have a young family and want to relocate to a rural community with great schools.

We are a rural veterinary practice proud to serve its community, still maintaining that crucial family feel, based in Winton and we are recruiting

VetSouth is part of an industry leading animal health provider, with modern clinics based throughout Southland and South Otago, Canterbury, the West Coast and Morrinsville. With walks, shops, restaurants, golf, fishing, and areas of outstanding natural beauty on your doorstep, not to mention skiing in the mountains, this can be a role built around your lifestyle.

With 20 veterinarians at peak, we provide an extensive range of veterinary services to dairy clients, as well as other production animals, working dogs and companion animals.

Developing a culture of 'team first,' where everyone pulls together when there's work, and relaxes when it's time, is key here. We are a strong team with a real focus on well-being who want their best for patients, employees, and the practice.

Due to its growth it's a 5-8-year experienced large veterinarian we require but we will take less, if it's the right person we want. You'll develop as a veterinarian and gain experience by working on your own cases. See things through with plenty of mentoring from the senior veterinarians.

Salary, perks, and hours: $110k - 130k per annum. CPD is actively encouraged and 25% can be used for wellbeing (some people have bought ski passes with their portion). You will be working 42.5 hours per week with a sensible OOH rota in place. A relocation allowance is provided, veterinary fees paid, and staff discounts. A work vehicle, laptop and phone are provided, first six weeks accommodation provided if required. Plus, there's plenty of 'food for good,' when on the go, fruit, nibbles, and snacks to keep you going.

Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You're a great veterinarian. You care about the patients and the people bringing them in. Most importantly you want a place to help, learn and grow.

    So, what's next?

Well, we can't get the whole story in a job advert, so send your CV - don't worry if it's not up to date, send it to along with any questions. I'll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Be a better veterinarian, you, and the animals, deserve it.
