Reporting to the Route to Live Manager, the role will involve engagement with, provide support, and present appropriate challenge to many roles across Digital & Innovation (D&I) function.

Liaising with management & consultants to provide technical advice and guidance for our non
- production database infrastructure, you'll engage with various stakeholders including Project Managers, Quality Assurance Managers & other technical staff.


You'll play a critical part in formulating and supporting changes to key technologies to support and drive forward the Route to Live Environment Support Strategy.


Day to Day you'll...

  • Actively promote Route to Live Support Model
  • Input to appropriate Testing related project documentation
  • Engage with Project to confirm environment requirements
  • Manage the test environment(s) roadmap and change management process
  • Identify trends and proactively deliver environment improvements to maintain and improve agreed level of environment availability
  • Plan and implement appropriate improvement initiatives into the test environments against agreed timetable
  • Conduct Defect/Issue/Problem investigation & resolution within their technical specialism, working with the relevant Service Centres to resolve
  • Support Senior database Engineers, offering support, guidance and be a technical escalation point to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Take ownership of technical issues, ensuring the correct stakeholders are engaged and involved to formulate and deliver a resolution

There are a few essentials you need to bring....

  • Significant experience as a DBA or similar working with and administering databases within large enterprise multiplatform environments
  • Proven Oracle knowledge covering 9i, 10g, 11g, 12c, 19c including Compression and TDE for 12c onwards
  • Expert knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery
  • Expert ability to troubleshoot issues and make recommendations for system changes, as needed, to resolve issues.
  • Qualified to an appropriate level in Oracle or MS SQL

  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time
  • Mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
  • Good track record of technical delivery
  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle Application Express
  • Linux and / or WINDOWS skills
  • Agile Project Delivery using relevant emerging toolsets eg TFS
  • Awareness of emerging Industry trends such as DBAS, SAAS, IAAS, PAAS
  • PL/SQL
