~ Our Software team is seeking someone with both an understanding of Quantum information theory and experience with programming to help utilise quantum computing theory for an improved quantum computing offering.

The post holder will have access to Quantum computers and the opportunity to put theory into practice with tangible real-world results.

The successful candidate will work as part of our Quantum Software team and will work closely with our other Quantum Engineers in the business.

They will help develop our open source compiler and build connections in the open source community.

Long term, depending on the skills of the successful candidate, this role could develop more towards quantum RnD and implementation of error mitigation or towards a pure software engineer role.

Upskill other members of the team to support those with a background in classical computing to understand the quantum field

A background in numerical analysis and proven ability to apply these to problems
Must have some demonstrable experience of programming in languages such as Python/Matlab/Fortran
PhD in a relevant field or a strong MSc with relevant experience
Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and analysis skills
Proactive and enthusiastic attitude towards complex and varying work projects, whether working independently or in a team

Ability to work embedded in an agile team environment; ideally familiarity with project management
Scientific publication/presentation of results, whether in person or in writing, within a relevant field
Experience working with HPCs or data or compute intensive problems

Research has shown that women are less likely than men to apply for this role if they do not have solid experience in 100% of these areas.

Skills can be learnt, diversity cannot.

Together we are pioneering cutting-edge quantum computers that unlock transformative discoveries, from advancing drug modelling to revolutionising battery technology.

Our mission is to put quantum in the hands of humanity, empowering customers to discover new commercial and scientific frontiers.

We bring together some of the brightest minds in quantum physics, nanotechnologies, hardware, software and commercial operations. Are you ready to help us build this future?

Please use the link provided to apply for the role of Quantum Software Engineer.

To aid your application, it will be beneficial to provide us with a cover letter outlining why you think you would be a good fit for the role and what attracts you to OQC.

We aspire to thrive, as a company and as people, thanks to your diversity of thought and background.
