    Student Pharmacy Technician

    Are you a friendly, reliable, forward thinking individual? Always wanted to start a career within pharmacy but didn't know where to start? Our Trust is pleased to be in a position to recruit a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy technician (PTPT) to commence a fixed two year apprenticeships programme, within our Pharmacy department, based at Peterborough City Hospital site. This position will work alongside our trained staff and other trainees within the department but will also involve travelling to the University of East Anglia (UEA) or other training sites within the Eastern Region and our other hospital sites within North West Anglia Foundation Trust. The ability to be able to travel to these locations will be essential.

    Main duties of the job

    This is an exciting opportunity to undertake the apprenticeship training. This will include working in a supported environment to develop the skills and knowledge required to complete the qualification. This includes being trained in the competencies for Dispensing, storage and the distribution of medicines, patient counselling, ward medicine management and accredited checking and to be able to implement these into practice to meet the requirements of current legislation and professional standards. For our Trust, our PTPT's will have the opportunity tocomplete the Certificate in Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practise with the UEA and on completion register as a qualified Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council

    Original copies of certificates/qualifications must be available on both the interview and registration day.

    Please note NVQ level 2 is not an entry route to this training programme.

    Interviews are planned to take place on the 6th and 7th June 2024.

    Start date will be 9th September 2024 and the mandatory registration to the University of East Anglia (UEA) will be in the week commencing the 9th September is to be confirmed but could involve two days induction delivered at the UEA or using the online portal Microsoft Teams.

    Essential

  • 4 GCSE passes, or equivalent (grade C or above, including Science, Mathematics and English). If these are not UK qualifications then an individual must prove equivalence at application (at own expense).To be eligible for the apprenticeship you must hold an English qualification from the UK, functional skills level 2 is acceptable.
  • Apprenticeship entry requirements must be met, which means that higher or overseas Pharmacy qualifications will mean ineligibility following current government guidance. This can also include degrees or equivalent where this is a significant overlap with the level 4 apprenticeship. This is decided by the course provider.

    Essential

  • Four GCSE (or equivalent) passes at grade C or Level 4 or above and must include Science, Mathematics and English (original certificates MUST be available)
  • Ability to train towards Certificate in Pharmacy Technician practise or equivalent
  • If Science and Mathematics are not UK qualifications these must need to be approved by UK Naric (Ecctis), English must be a UK certificated qualification
  • Experience

  • Previous experience in pharmacy or health related area
  • Knowledge

  • Computer literate
