    As a Lean Six Sigma Coach you will train and coach Lean Six Sigma Black Belts (BB), and Green Belts (GB) across the organisation, serving as project coach for Lean Six Sigma projects.

    You will provide expertise to Smiths that enables strategic excellence worldwide, lead change by training Champions, team members and stakeholders to deliver performance improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools, methods, and concepts.

    The role is based in London HQ, hybrid working.


    Creates / updates and delivers Lean Six Sigma training for Master lack Belts (MBB), Black Belts (BB), Green Belts (GB) and Yellow Belt (YB) to introduce team members to SES methodologies – Six Sigma, Lean, etc.

    ~ Acts as a coach for Lean Six Sigma DMAIC and DMADV projects to deliver business results which may include cost reduction, cash flow improvement, revenue enhancement, defect reduction, cycle time improvement, etc.


    Coaches all Belts to implement Lean Six Sigma projects successfully and attain and then maintain certification, as well as, applying Lean Six Sigma in daily work.

    Act as supplier, customer, community advocate by utilising stakeholder data to influence leaders to achieve positive business results.

    ~ Facilitates workshops/kaizen events to bring together cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and achieve targeted performance improvement in a compressed timeframe within the context of projects for targeted processes.

    ~ Engages Champions, Process Owners, team members and stakeholders to deliver performance improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools, methods, and concepts.

    ~ Plays a role in facilitating the effectiveness of the enterprise-wide SES deployment including: Active participation in the global Community of Practice, sharing of best practices, supporting the success of other belts and other duties to enable the success of SES at Smiths.

    ~ Customer focus, data-driven decision-making, ownership of processes and operational metrics, Lean Six Sigma as Smiths' Way of Working, and Servant Leadership to create an inclusive continuous improvement environment.

    10-15 years of demonstrable and extensive Lean Six Sigma Training and Coaching experience.

    ~ Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt or Black Belt as well as Project Management Professional (PMI PMP).

    ~ Line Management experience combined with skills in Microsoft Visio, Minitab (or other statistical software) as well as MS Office Applications.

    ~ Experience presenting to senior level meetings (preferably Vice-President to "C-Suite").

    ~ Master's degree in Statistics or bachelor's degree with significant Statistics content and at least 10 years of experience in a business role with engagement in process improvement activities, including facilitating teams and project analysis or at least 8 years of experience in a related discipline.

    ~ Experience with project management (for example: planning, organising, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).

    ~ Experience with analysing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

    ~ Advanced level skill in Microsoft Office tools – including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint.

    ~ Training – ability to identify and formulate training needs and assure training execution and follow up.

    ~ Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes in the UK and possibly globally as well.

    ~ Excellent spoken and written English skills.
