£23,000 - £24,230 depending on experience


About Recycling Lives Social Enterprise (RLSE):

Recycling Lives Social Enterprise is responsible for the operation of the FareShare Regional Centre for Lancashire and Cumbria, redistributing surplus food to communities in need throughout the region.


We are also a national leader in the criminal justice sector, delivering rehabilitation and residential programmes to reduce reoffending and homelessness.

We work with individuals with histories of offending, substance misuse, mental illness, homelessness and long-term unemployment.

We deliver structured, supportive programmes to allow participants to overcome personal problems and develop skills, confidence and resilience to move into work and stable housing.


About FareShare:

FareShare is the UK's national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 17 independent organisations.

Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to almost 11,000 frontline charities and community groups.

During 2021, we redistributed 120 million meals through our FareShare Regional Centres and our retail surplus model FareShare Go, reaching over 1 million people.


Hunger is a growing issue in the UK and while there is surplus food that is otherwise going to waste, we believe that this food should be used to feed people first.


The role:


As a collection & delivery driver you will collect food from our local food partners as well as deliver food from FareShare Lancashire and Cumbria to our charity community food members (CFMs) within the region.

You will be a regular point of contact with our local food partners, as well as with our CFMs receiving food.

In addition, and on occasion, volunteers may join you as drivers' mate and assist you on deliveries.


As a warehouse operative you will actively be involved and support the warehouse operation, incoming goods, storage, booking in goods and dispatch of goods to CFMs.

This will involve working closely with warehouse colleagues and volunteers to ensure that all operational activities are complete and to food safety standards.


Key responsibilities:


  • To be able to successfully deliver food to our community food members in Cumbria and Lancashire and are willing and able to collect weekly food donations from our food industry partner/s Tesco.
  • Responsibility for loading and unloading food on the vans.
  • Ensure that the administrative processes involved in the delivery of food are all achieved accurately. This will include, time of delivery, temperature and cfm signature, in line with compliance.
  • Develop and manage relationships with CFMs and with our local food industry partners.
  • Experience and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of staff and volunteers, and use own initiative with mínimal supervision.
  • Work with the team to develop new operational processes as required and take an active role in their implementation.
  • Any other task required to ensure the smooth running of FareShare Lancashire and Cumbria.

Person Specification:


Essential
Warehouse operative

  • A team player with a positive and collaborative attitude, who enjoys working with others to help achieve broader objectives
  • Willing to learn and develop warehouse operational skills
  • Proactive, organised, resilient and able to work under pressure, whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable using own initiative, prioritising and managing the workload, with problem solving and decisionmaking skills
  • Able to perform physical tasks including lifting and loading
  • Computer literate, comfortable with online tools including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a variety of systems.
Driver

  • A positive character with excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills, both written and verbal with the ability to provide a customer focused service.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring deliveries are completed as per the correct process, manage own time to meet required delivery times.
  • Full UK driving licence (minimum 2 years driver experience preferred)
  • Able to perform physical tasks including lifting and loading
  • Have a positive and cando approach managing relationships and expectations with CFMs.
  • Enjoy being out on the road and working independently.
  • Work as part of a wider team sharing ideas and good practice.
  • Be confident with using technology.
  • Willingness to undertake training and other FareShare activities as required.

Desirable

  • Forklift licence, but training will be provided
  • Category C1 driving licence
  • Level 2 or 3 Food Safety Certificate, but training will be provide
