An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, established counselling team working for the Maternity and Neonatal Departments in an acute hospital setting.

The Counselling Service provides a comprehensive service to inpatients, outpatients, relatives, and staff. It offers short to mid-term therapeutic intervention for individuals and couples.

The post holder will:


  • Be responsible for delivering high quality psychotherapy
  • Provide comprehensive specialist psychological assessment
  • Provide specialist therapy for clients suffering from a range of issues including complex trauma, acute or chronic illness, bereavement, multiple loss, and infertility
  • Provide consultation to colleagues and liaise with multidisciplinary teams whilst working autonomously within professional guidelines.

We are also proud to host the Defence Medical Group South East at Frimley Park with military surgical, medical, and nursing personnel working alongside the hospital's NHS staff providing care to patients in all specialties.


The post holders will be responsible for delivering high quality time-limited therapy to patients, relatives and staff referred to the Counselling Service following a recent complex, often traumatic, bereavement or inpatient experience.

This will involve providing comprehensive specialist psychological assessments, liaising with multidisciplinary teams and providing consultation to colleagues and families, whilst working autonomously within professional guidelines, exercising personal responsibility for the systematic governance of professional practice.

Clinical casework primarily involves providing specialist therapy for individuals and couples suffering from a range of issues associated with complex trauma, acute or chronic illness, bereavement, multiple loss, infertility, and disability.
