    Our Finance Apprentice Scheme

    Our Finance team works at the heart of our business providing challenge, analysis and insight to all business units and support functions. This broad remit provides opportunities to learn and develop a wide range of skills across a varied range of roles and experiences. We will get you involved in real business tasks and projects, helping you to understand our company and providing you with the support needed to start your journey as a finance professional.

    We will support you as you learn the theory as well and practical application of skills under the guidance of some of our expert colleagues.

    Placements / roles covered

    Transactional Support

  • Understand, administer the work routines and procedures for Transactional support
  • Identify expired and expiring contracts, liaise with relevant stake holders to rectify
  • Set up new contracts in our operational systems
  • Margin Recovery

  • Identify, analyse and resolve margin weaknesses
  • Measure and report business benefit(s) from margin improvement activities
  • Customer Rebates

  • Administer the workflow relating to the rebate process
  • Evaluate customer rebate proposal
  • Understand how to propose a rebate which is a 'win' for both us and our customer
  • Business Unit Finance

  • Provide support to the Business Unit operational teams
  • Support the WUK businesses to deliver profitable growth
  • Month end tasks (including journals, review of results and forecasting)
  • Performance Management and Reporting

  • Understand key financial measures
  • Understand the Wolseley company structure
  • Produce weekly and monthly management reporting
  • Entry Requirements

  • Experience of working with computers, particularly Excel
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise
  • A minimum of 3 B's at A-Level, including one of Maths, Economics, Business Studies or Accounting
