    The Role

    We are seeking to appoint a motivated and ambitious Faculty Leader to join and lead our established PE team. You will be a highly skilled and enthusiastic teacher, with the potential to move into a Senior Leadership role in the future, who can take initiative and motivate others.

    The Faculty Leader role is part of a wider leadership structure that moves the school forward. Faculty Leaders are part of our extended whole school leadership team working on faculty and whole school initiatives. Our recent Ofsted inspection (Jan 24) graded leadership as outstanding, and our middle leaders play a pivotal role in this achievement. As a Faculty Leader you will be supported by a second in faculty who leads the Childcare and Health & Social Care courses.

    The PE Faculty offers Child Care, Health & Social Care and Sports Studies at KS4.

    • Ensuring a clear shared vision for the development of outstanding teaching and learning and a culture of high expectations within the Faculty.
    • Raising standards across the Faculty and the School.
    • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of the Faculty in all areas including: teaching and learning, behaviour for learning, resources, learning environment, performance management, data and intervention.
    • All academic provision and support to students in the Faculty.
    • Ensuring a high-quality curriculum across the Faculty.
    • Ensuring consistency of school policies within Faculty.

    St Helena School, part of the Sigma Trust, is a highly-regarded 11-16 co-educational Academy, recognised as Good by Ofsted in 2014 and now on a journey to Outstanding. Located on 17 acres in historic Colchester, the school has a fine blend of traditional and modern facilities and opened a £2.5m new Science block in 2015, and a £2.5m all weather pitch facility in February 2016.
