The OfS is the statutory regulator for higher education in England.

We do so by regulating the higher education providers on our register to make sure they are delivering high quality courses and positive outcomes for their students; Our current strategy signals a shift from an organisation in a start-up phase to an established regulator that understands its regulatory tools and how best to use them to shape incentives across the sector we regulate.

We are now seeking a Chief Data Officer to assume a key leadership role, shaping how data drives our regulation to benefit students.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced data leader to exert significant influence on the success of our regulation by ensuring we exploit our data to generate maximum regulatory benefit.

You will engage with stakeholders across the sector and collaborate with relevant data bodies to shape strategies and initiatives that have impact.

Your leadership will be instrumental in aligning our data practices with our broader regulatory objectives, delivering a step-change in our approach.

You will bring significant technical expertise spanning data management, analytics, and governance, with the ability to quickly apply these to the benefit of our regulation.

You will have exceptional leadership qualities that inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and drive meaningful change within our organisation.

Your proactive engagement with stakeholders and adept navigation of complex regulatory landscapes will be critical to your success in this role.

How we do things is as important as what we do and your approach will be underpinned by our values of Ambition, Openness, Learning and Diversity.

This position offers a rare opportunity to lead the strategic transformation of data practices in a regulatory context, shaping how data is harnessed to advance regulatory outcomes in the best interest of students.
