Our consultancy services include crops & soilhealth, livestock management, business planning, food and drink product development, forestry & woodland management, climate change mitigation, rural diversification, renewables and sustainability.

SRUC is enhancing and building its consultancy offering in the potato sector in Scotland, UK and beyond. The SAC Consulting Potato team work closely with the SRUC potato field trials team.

The trial programme field work is undertaken by the SRUC Aberdeentrials team with additional field trials in Ayrshire and Edinburgh with direct input from SAC Consulting Potato Team.


Your main duties:

  • You will have an ideal mix of supporting the Potato team with on going project and field work. This allows you to gain both practical and technical experience along with desk based activity.
  • Allow you to gain experience of farmers and industry events alongside senior consultants. Excellent way to learn
  • Some of the projects require you to maintain data bases and provide material for final reports to be submitted. This will lead to you analysing and interpreting information
  • Keep project management systems up to date, some support expected
  • Require you to be well organised who can quickly grasp problems, develop solutions while having the correct supervision and management support within the office team.
  • Require you the post holder to deliver on fee earning project work.
  • Ideally you will be located within the arable production and potato producing areas of Scotland. There are several possible locations within the SRUC network that could be used as a base with a hybrid of home and office working envisaged.
  • Ideally you should have a Degree or Higher Degree in Agriculture or equivalent which is essential for this position.
