    Credit Risk Manager

    Function:Risk

    Reports to:Chief Risk Officer

    Grade: 3

    Role Purpose

    Second Line of Defence lead on credit risk matters for the Society, including regulatory framework and 1LOD support

    Critical Success Factors

    1. Embed three lines of defence for Credit Risk
    2. Develop credit risk model to support lending decisions and risk management
    3. Own and redevelop watchlist process
    4. Establish framework for ongoing, value adding credit risk analysis
    5. Develop mortgage credit risk stress testing
    6. Improve credit risk MI

    Main duties within role (list is not exhaustive)

    • Act as the second line of defence for credit risk
    • Embed of the three lines of defence model for credit risk
    • Develop the mortgage credit risk appetite and limits
    • Second line of defence reviews of underwriting policy and residential lending policy
    • Own and improve credit risk reporting for MCC, Risk Committee and Board
    • Own the watchlist process, including reviews of commercial lending, high risk residential cases and arrears cases
    • Support the development and improvement of the affordability model
    • Define and carry out mortgage credit stress testing
    • Develop and embed a PD credit risk model for portfolio analysis, with potential for credit decisioning
    • Conduct thematic and portfolio credit risk reviews
    • Author new business lending review and develop other lending review documents
    • Carry out risk reviews of new product developments
    • Horizon scanning and emerging risk analysis for mortgage credit risk
    • Arrears, forbearance and impairment analysis
    • Identify and implement regulatory change
    • Support Finance team in impairment modelling
    • Draft reports for MCC, Executive, Risk Committee and Board

    Qualifications & Accreditations

    Educated to degree level, or equivalent relevant experience

    Skills & experience

    Extensive retail credit risk experience, ideally mortgages

    Experience of credit risk modelling

    Knowledge of PRA and other regulatory credit risk requirements

    Strong written and verbal communication skills
